Spring Cleaning Time!
It’s that time of year – the birds are tweeting, the flowers are blooming, baby lambs are doing whatever baby lambs do and… what am I on about? There was hail today, my cherry blossom is pretty much dead and I’ve never seen a baby lamb. However, it’s Spring and with that comes Spring cleaning!
I just want to set the scene. I’m a sucker for a bargain. Anything that has a reduced price, no matter how sleight, will often be whipped up and purchased by me in no time at all. I also love free things!
My problem is that whenever I see one of these bargains with software I buy without thinking. macZOT!, MacHeist, MacAppADay, MacUpdate Promo and Mac<InsertShitNameHere> are all examples of things that have completely ruined both my wallet and my hard-drive. Okay, MacAppADay didn’t touch my wallet since it was giving away applications for free (usually..) every day. I’ve already posted rants about these companies and websites, so I don’t intend on starting a new one here.
I’ve whittled my way through a lot of the applications that I’ve bought and just don’t used over the last few months and yet I still have a folder called “Unused Applications”. There are some applications in my “Applications” folder that I’ve paid too much money for or am still on the fence about using that haven’t made their way into the unused section yet. I’ve decided, as it’s cleaning time, that the entire folder should meet my old friend AppZapper (which, by the way, I have about four licenses for thanks to bloody macZOT throwing it in every bundle).
Just check out the apps I have no use for, just sitting there gathering virtual, digital dust.
[Large version here.]
Maybe they don’t take up that much space but it’s 272.7MB that could go to something more interesting – Diggnation or Cranky Geeks or perhaps spyware, which I’d much rather have than any of these apps. Anyone know any spyware for the Mac?
I’m overreacting. I’m just irritated I’ve wasted so much money on this crap. Believe me, the apps above aren’t even half of what I’ve bought due to these money-grabbing Mac “offer” sites. A lot of them were bought in bundles, where I wasn’t fully sure or at all what I was getting in return for my money. Yes, I am an idiot but I’m an idiot with the ability to voice myself too.
Anyway, there’s some cleaning done! I’m going to be browsing through all the files and folders on my computers to try and tidy up and sort everything out. Usually I’m quite a tidy person (virtually that is, in real life I’m a mess) but there are just some things I put in folders and forget about them. Cleaning time!
Note: Nothing against the apps, the developers or MacUpdate (I love MacUpdate) but I personally have no use for these things.

“that could go to something more interesting – Diggnation or Cranky Geeks or perhaps spyware, which I’d much rather have than any of these apps. Anyone know any spyware for the Mac?” Uhm… no. >.> *shifty*
272.7MB worth of spyware is like, a lot of spyware.
