MacHeist Unlocks TextMate

Previously I posted an article discussing all of the apps in the MacHeist Final Bundle. Towards the bottom of that article I mentioned that there were two locked applications, NewsFire and TextMate. These two were going to be unlocked only when the money donated to charity reached $50,000 and $100,000 respectively.

The money raised easily reached the $50,000 mark and NewsFire was unlocked for everyone who bought the bundle and for everyone who buys it from now on, however there was (and still is) quite a way to go to reach the goal for TextMate. With only two days left (as of writing this), the money raised has only reached just over $70,000.

Earlier today, on the forums, Phil Ryu posted the following:

There’s been lot of drama going around on whether or not we’ll make it to $100k of donations for charity so that TextMate will be unlocked. Drama was great for My Dream App when the voting became extremely close…it added to the fun and excitement of the event. But nobody really benefits in this case.

Right now, it looks like the $100k charity plateau may not be a realistic goal.

So, we’ve decided that it benefits everyone involved here if we unlock TextMate now.

But what about the charities you ask? The amount that’ll be donated is around $70k right now. If the final amount to charity doesn’t reach the original $100k threshold, MacHeist will cover the difference so that no matter what a minimum of $100k will be donated.

Enjoy TextMate and the rest of the bundle!

The MacHeist Bundle

Completely unexpected but very much appreciated! With this, I would just like to give my thanks to everyone included in the MacHeist team, whose idea and concept has raised both money for charity and fun for the Mac community. I’d also like to thank everyone who bought the final bundle, as part of your money has been donated to the deserving charities.

So there we have it, everyone who buys the bundle from now on will be receiving all ten applications! Head over to MacHeist and pick yours up today.
