TheMacPak Launches
While I’m sure you’re all aware of it by now, TheMacPak has officially started its offer. Think MacHeist, think MacZOT, think someone is getting ripped off somewhere down the line. I automatically think of the xPad debacle and MacHeist ripping people off (please note: my summarizing thoughts on his article).
The offer starts at $30 for a bundle of “10 aware winning games and applications”. The twist is that you don’t get to see what you’re paying for before you buy it. TheMacPak will release information on a new application every few days, however every time that they do the price will go up by $5 up to a maximum of $75. The total price of these applications comes to $288.86 and apparently you do get more than you pay for because these are full versions of the applications (remember MacAppADay? Ouch..) without “stupid loopholes”.
To quote the home page: “great apps and games, no widgets, no heist repeats. 30 dollars”. Really? How come the first app that they’ve decided to show is a MacHeist repeat? I have Pangea Arcade purely because of MacHeist. I’ve not used it, I don’t intend to use it (although it looks okay, I just have a Wii and World of Warcraft); so not only is it a MacHeist repeat, it’s an application I’m not going to use. That has already put me off purchasing the bundle and I’m going to have to say no thank you. I don’t care what else I miss out on because any applications I want I’ve already paid for.
How do you feel about these promotional “buy now, see what you get later” offers and are you going to be buying the Pak?

The reason we put Pangea first was to be transparent. That’s also why we provided Ottomatic as an option too

I assumed the option was there because of that. I was glad you were open enough and allowed the users the option to pick.
