The End Of My PowerBook

Well, this looks like the end. We had a good run, Vicki, however, it looks like your days are up!

I just turned on my PowerBook to be greeted by this:

Broken PowerBook
Broken PowerBook II

This is not a screensaver, it won’t go away and I have no idea what is wrong with it or how to fix it. Looks like I’ll be buying a new laptop very, very shortly. Maybe a white MacBook to tide me over until next Christmas. One of the very low-end machines, as I don’t really have enough money to pay out right now.

Looks like your graphics card has finally bit the dust. I doubt it’s easily replaceable.

Steffan, how long have you had the PowerBook for?

It’s just over two years old, bought around Christmas time.

I don’t think I’m even going to try fixing it (though I may open it up to check things out), as my mum just bought me a new MacBook (and if you’re reading this, thank you).

I’ll agree, alej744, it looks cool. It’s just a shame it costs quite a bit of money to replace it. :P

You might be able to use its RAM or something in your Macbook. Pop it open and take a look at what you might be able to steal. :P

I’d say it’s probably more the screen than the graphics card.

Either way it’s going to be pretty expensive. As bad as it’s going to sound, it’s probably going to be cheaper to buy a new machine.
